As we look back on 2025, one of the standout community achievements was our massive effort on the water this September. On Sunday, September 7, 2025, We Love Clean Rivers (WLCR) and the Clackamas River Basin Council (CRBC) teamed up for the annual Down the Clackamas River Clean Up.
From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, volunteers scoured the river between McIver Park and Clackamette Park, proving that when we come together, we can make a massive difference for our waterways.
By the Numbers
The turnout this year was incredible. While we had 224 people register, we saw 178 actual attendees hit the river and the banks to get their hands dirty.
The results speak for themselves: Participants collected a staggering 2,760 lbs of trash.
Volunteers reported finding a wide array of items, including two shopping carts, several phones, a machete, tires, and popped floaties.
A Cleaner Future
Removing over a ton of garbage—from tires to vape pens—is a huge win for the health of the Clackamas River. We want to extend a massive thank you to every single volunteer who paddled, waded, and hauled trash out of the river this year.
Here’s to an even cleaner 2026!
