2022

DRAFT CALENDAR

The goals of the River Ambassador program include
  1. Improving visitor experiences
  2. Communicating river conditions and hazards
  3. Reducing river congestion
  4. Encouraging river stewardship and safety
  5. Connecting visitors to the abundance of recreation services in the Clackamas River region
The program is simple. During peak-use weekends between Memorial and Labor Day, volunteers are stationed at popular access sites on the Lower Clackamas River. These ‘River Ambassadors’ serve as diplomats of healthy river recreation, and support park staff and public safety. They also get to spend a beautiful day by one of the cleanest urban rivers in America. Usually working in pairs or groups, River Ambassadors sign up to for shifts at McIver, Barton, and Carver parks on the Lower Clackamas. As the program grows, we hope to post River Ambassadors at Riverside, Highrocks, Clackamette, and Dahl Parks as well.   A celebration for all volunteers, including River Ambassadors, is held immediately after the the annual Down The River Cleanup on September 11th, 2022. Feel free to email info@welovecleanrivers.org with questions, or sing up now and we will keep you posted on training sessions, sign-up schedule, etc.
